Victoria Park (postcode BT4 1JT) has been a park in the east of the city for over 100 years. It once featured a seawater lido. These days it is a sanctuary for a varied bird population.
It is 2 kilometres from the famous Titanic Quarter and right next door to the city airport - sometimes you think the planes are going to land in it!
No cars will be allowed into the park during the Championships but there are 3 pedestrian entrances: From Park Avenue off the Holywood Road via an underpass; from Sydenham Station and the City Airport over a bridge; and the main entrance( with best parking) is from the Airport Road over the Sam Thompson bridge.
As well as the train, the park is served by a Metro number 3 bus.
The race course is flat and 1652 metres around the lake.
The surface is exposed aggregate concrete.
The course was laid 4 years ago as part of a £40 million Connswater Community Greenway project - a cycle path threading through the east of the city and out into the countryside.
Two athletics clubs operate out of the park :Orangegrove AC and Victoria and ConnswaterAC; and there’s a Parkrun every Saturday morning at 9.30am.
